Important: iOS App Age Rating Updates Required by January 31, 2026

Hello,

To ensure your apps remain fully compliant with Apple’s latest App Store requirements and to avoid any delays or blocks on future releases we recommend updating the age ratings for all iOS apps in App Store Connect.

What’s changing

Apple has introduced an updated age-rating system that includes:

• New, more detailed age categories: 13+, 16+, and 18+

• An expanded age-rating questionnaire that must be completed for each app

These updates are mandatory. Apple requires all apps to complete the new age-rating questionnaire by January 31, 2026. If the update is not completed by then, Apple will block new app submissions and app updates.

Why this is important

• App updates will be blocked after January 31, 2026 if age ratings are not updated.

• Apps distributed in Texas may require additional consent if updated after January 1, 2026, due to new Texas SB2420 legislation.

• Age ratings can vary by country or region, so apps available internationally may need region-specific review.

Completing this update ensures your apps meet Apple’s latest standards and continue to release smoothly without unexpected issues.

How to update the age rating

1. Sign in to App Store Connect

2. Select the app you want to update

3. Go to App Information → Age Rating

4. Complete Apple’s updated questionnaire, which now includes topics such as:

   • In-app controls

   • App capabilities

   • Medical or wellness content

   • Violent themes

5. Select the appropriate age rating using Apple’s updated categories:

   • 4+, 9+, 13+, 16+, or 18+

6. Save your changes and confirm the updated rating displays correctly

7. Review and confirm region-specific age ratings if your app is available internationally

If you cannot update the age ratings, do to a new app build being required, please submit an app build request using the App Submission Settings in the SoCast CMS. Please then email the support desk to let us know you’ve submitted the request, so we can track and provide follow-up.
