With more than 1,000 radio stations across the world using SoCast to connect and engage with their audiences, we wanted to highlight some of our more unique designs, uses or even radio formats from our partners. Because we’re half way through Pride Month, we figured there was no better place to start than Evanov Communications’ Proud FM 103.9.
Launched in Toronto by Rainbow Media Group, a partnership between Evanov and several other investors, CIRR-FM hit the air in April 2007 as North America’s first commercial radio station targeting the LGBTQ+ community. Elvis Duran kicks off every weekday live from New York City, bringing one of the world’s most well known voices to the airwaves of North America’s 4th largest media market. Drive time is helmed by Jaret, and Proud FM’s “Weekend Popup Party” is hosted by Tyler.
“Working for PROUD FM is fabulous” says Tyler. “You know you’re working for the party of all radio stations. The MOST inclusive spot in Canada for radio and with a playlist that makes you feel like you’re living your best gay-life at the biggest club in the world. Evanov Communications Inc knew what they were doing when they created PROUD FM. The safest space mixed with the greatest playlist? Try and find something better. Working for PROUD FM has allowed me to be authentically myself on the radio. It’s shown me what “fun” radio is all about.”
With Toronto’s Pride festival returning later this month after a two year absence, Proud FM will be broadcasting from Church Street on June 25th & 26th. Stop by to say hi!
